About [email protected]:

This year, ADRP is pleased to launch [email protected], a conference-within-a-conference designed by and for executive-level donor relations professionals. This is an excellent opportunity for top-level donor relations professionals to join staff members attending the ADRP International Conference in Miami. [email protected] will run concurrently with the first full day of the conference on September 25, 2019.

It brings together qualified senior donor relations professionals for interactive, open conversations about shared pressing issues, executive professional development, and the big ideas and influences shaping the future of fundraising and our field.

As a benefit of everyone, insights and highlights from [email protected] conversations will be shared with conference attendees during a session later in the conference.

The [email protected] Committee is comprised of Roberta O'Hara, Mark Lanum, Nancy McKinney, Christian Nelson, and Jeff Muller. Since space is limited, participation is contingent upon committee approval. See below for details!

This one-day conference-within-a-conference will run concurrent with the first full day of the ADRP International Conference in Miami on September 25, 2019.

[email protected] is a one-of-a-kind opportunity intended to address the unique needs and interests of experienced leaders in the field of donor relations. It brings together qualified senior donor relations professionals for interactive, open conversations about shared pressing issues, executive professional development, and the big ideas and influences shaping the future of fundraising and our field.

Is there a separate fee for [email protected]?
No, participation in [email protected] is included in the registration fee for the International Conference.

Where will [email protected] occur?
[email protected] will take place in the same location as the International Conference, however, in a space specifically set aside for the [email protected] program.

What is the agenda for the day?
While the specifics of the agenda are still in development, the focus of [email protected] is on the conversation between executive-level peers. Thought leaders from within and outside the profession will discuss emerging ideas in philanthropy and their effect on donor relations.  Attendees will have abundant opportunity for sharing and learning from peers across a variety of sectors about the day-to-day issues, trends, and personal and professional challenges that affect the work of tenured executive and senior leaders. Critical insights and take-aways identified by [email protected] attendees will be compiled and shared in a special session on the last day of the conference for all conference-goers to participate in. This will allow International Conference attendees to benefit from the collective experience of [email protected] attendees and hear their thoughts on the future and trends of the profession.

How do I sign up?
Prospective attendees must apply for consideration, and participation in [email protected] is contingent upon committee approval. This ensures:

  1. Attendees are of similar experience, level of responsibilities, and strategic vision, and
  2. A good balance of industry sectors represented so that all attendees have a meaningful experience.

The application process is separate from the general International Conference registration process. Applicants must submit an application form. Attendees will be notified of acceptance in mid-July.

Qualified participants meet both of the following criteria:

  1. Have at least 10 years of experience in donor relations; OR

    2. Are part of their organization’s senior management team for fundraising/development
    3. Are a frequent speaker or content provider for donor relations audiences beyond their own institution.

In addition, a general rule of thumb is that only the senior-most person from any given institution will be accepted.

Who will make the decision about attendance?
Applications will be reviewed, and decisions made by the [email protected] Planning Committee:

  • Roberta O’Hara (Chair), Associate Vice President for Donor Relations, Rutgers University Foundation
  • Mark Lanum (Board Liaison), Director, UW Donor Relations, University of Washington
  • Nancy Lubich McKinney, Executive Director, Donor and Gift Services, University of California, Berkeley
  • Jeff Muller, Senior Director of Donor Relations, Natural Resources Defense Council
  • Christian Nelson, Vice President, Donor Engagement and Philanthropy Communications, City of Hope

How does this affect my attendance at the International Conference?
Senior leaders who are accepted will attend [email protected] in lieu of their first-day sessions at the International Conference. This will not affect the rest of your plans for the conference.  If you are also presenting at the Conference, every effort will be made to plan your session for day 2 or 3.

How many senior leaders can attend?
Attendance will be limited to 50 participants to ensure robust conversation.

Who do I contact if I have questions?
You can direct questions to the planning committee via email ([email protected]).
