Session Description 

How do you make a donor feel special, demonstrate impact and make them feel like you are talking directly to them? Whether you are stewarding the masses or major gift donors, we'll show you some strategies to make all your donors feel special. Hear about some of the tricks to segment your population in a manner that gives the illusion that you are communicating directly to them.


About the Presenters

Jennifer Dallaire
Associate Director of Stewardship & Marketing
Boston University

Jennifer is an experienced development professional with close to 20 years of development experience. She has a B.S. in Business Administration, a Graduate Certificate in Non Profit Management from Suffolk University and is the Associate Director of Stewardship & Marketing at Boston University where she oversees the annual giving stewardship program. She began her career in development as the Co-Founder and Executive Director of a grass roots organization and received the Heroes’ Among Us Award from the Boston Celtics for her work.

Courtney Knauss
Assistant Director Stewardship and Donor Relations
Boston University

Courtney Knauss is an Associate Director of Stewardship & Donor Relations at Boston University. Prior to joining BU, Courtney spent eight years working in development at the Purdue School of Engineering & Technology, Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Counseling/Counselor Education, both from Indiana University. Additionally, she is also working on her doctorate in Higher Education Administration at IU.

Learning Objectives

We really want people to walk away feeling as though they were able to connect with others in the room, see tangible example that they can apply in their own shop and provide samples of marketing materials that they can use. Our key takeaways from our presentation will be to illustrate the importance of being donor centric, remembering to leverage existing collaborations and the importance of demonstrating impact to our donors.
